My name is Alice Tenscher Dunbar. I have been teaching various ages of Deaf and hard of hearing children since 1983. I have been honored to be part of the Ophir School community since 1991.  While most of my time is working with the DHH Pre-K class, I have worked with DHH students at all grade levels and work closely with the amazing Ophir STEAM Academy teachers!

I hold a Master's degree in Deaf Education from CSU Fresno. My teaching credentials include Multiple Subjects and Deaf Education/Communicative Disorders. I am also a nationally certified interpreter. I have been adjunct faculty at American River College in the Sign Language Studies department teaching educational interpreters.  I facilitate interpreter services and mentor interpreters at Ophir.

My passions other than teaching children include; tandem mountain biking, whitewater rafting, backcountry skiing and foreign travel. I live in Nevada City with my husband Brion.
