Principal's Corner

Dear Parents,

The middle school enrichment class is in the process of completing their “engineering design” projects for the second trimester. Throughout the past ten weeks, students have gone through the stages of the engineering design process (empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test) to create a “Rube Goldberg Machine”, which is an overly complex contraption, designed with humor, to accomplish a simple task. And now, they are ready to show off their creations! We would like to invite parents and community members to the Multipurpose Room on Friday, March 13th from 1:45 to 2:30 to view the amazing work of our students and to see our STEAM program in action.

As a reminder, our 7th and 8th grade students will be participating in the “Right Choice” program on Thursday, March 26th at Loomis Grammar School. This program focuses on drug use prevention and offers students the skills to resist substance abuse.  For more information regarding the program, please refer to the letter that was sent via e-mail on February 27th. Permission slips were sent home with students last week. Please sign and return permission slips to your child’s teacher by Friday, March 19th. If you have any questions regarding the Right Choice program, please feel free to contact the main office.

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), our newly adopted state testing, is beginning on Monday, March 16th. Students in grades 3 through 8 will be part of the testing cycle. The 7th and 8th grade testing window will take place from March 16th through March 27th. The 4th and 5th grade testing window will take place from April 13th through April 24th. The 3rd and 6th grade testing window will take place from April 27th through May 8th. We would like to ask your assistance in helping to ensure that students are present during the testing windows. Please schedule appointments, trips, and events outside of school hours and/or outside of the scheduled testing windows in order to ensure that students are available for all days of testing.  We want to thank you in advance for your support in this endeavor.

Thank you and have a great weekend!
