Teacher Bio

My name is Lorri Doan. I am a second grade teacher at Ophir STEAM Academy. I began my teaching career in the Foresthill Union School District where I taught fourth grade for eight years, and fifth grade for two years. When I first started teaching at Ophir I taught fourth grade, then moved to second grade. It has been such an honor to work in the Loomis Union School District. Second grade is an exciting grade to teach; so much enthusiasm and compassion!

I attended Sierra College and graduated from Chico State, majoring in Liberal Studies. After college, I taught preschool and lived in different areas. One of my experiences was teaching in Jamaica. I taught three to six year olds for three years. When I returned, I moved on to receive my teaching credential from National University. I continue my education through workshops, seminars, and a variety of teacher trainings. This is an evolving profession which offers many rewarding challenges and opportunities for growth.
